About the costume: The costume is inspired by Tamatoa from Disney’s Moana. I loved all of the shifting colors on his body and wanted to incorporate an element of fashion to pay homage to his song “shiny”. The body suit is lined with a soft spandex to protect the skin against any sharp sequins. The skirt is made up of 5 different colored net mesh fabric which is sewn to a belting that is held up and hidden by the bodice. The bodice has a layer of coutil, fully lined, and boned. I needed the structure to be strong to support the hip cage and layers of skirt. Unfortunately the hip cage caught on a door handle and tore before the photoshoot at the aquarium but has since made repairs!
